Wendy Roberts

Wendy Roberts was born in Yakima, Washington while her father served in the Vietnam war. She is the oldest of 6 children and grew up in San Diego, California. In high school she met the love of her life at Junior prom on a double date. They both wrote while the other served a mission and were married 6 years later in the Salt Lake Temple.

After graduating from Weber State University, she started working at Primary Children’s Medical Center as an RN. She worked for 8 years and finally achieved her goal to become a full time mom and homemaker in 1999. She felt prompted to homeschool when she quit working but was so afraid. She is living testimony of Nephi’s words “for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them.” 1 Nephi 3:7 She has been Homeschooling her 7 children for as many lucky years with the Lord’s promised help.

The Roberts' lead a very active lifestyle. Their babies log more miles in their Kelty kid carriers then most people spend in the mountains in a lifetime. They also love to bird watch, geocache, and backpack. They have traveled across the United states visiting such prominent places as The White house, Smithsonian, Gettysburg, Harper’s Ferry, Redwood Forest, Uintah mountains, and Yellowstone. Their next field trip will be to the Grand Canyon. The most notable place they lived was the Washington DC area next to Camp David. They could wave to the President’s helicopter from their front door.

When asked where she finds the time to write Wendy says “Sanity has to come from somewhere.” Writing brings her peace and fulfillment.

Wendy has been writing for local homeschool newsletters for 5 years and taught at her local state convention about using the internet in your homeschool. She is the co-moderator with Tamra Norton of the “Homeschooling a houseful” email group and website. Wendy and Tami have a book coming out the end of 2006 with the same title available at amazon books or through their website.

Wendy counts the “mommy paydays” in homeschooling. The rewards are not pensions or pay checks but are permanent and eternal.
